Top 5 Wellness Gifts I Received

This post strays away from strictly talking about food, but I wanted to share some of the amazing gifts I received this December. Between a milestone birthday and Christmas both falling in this month, I got overly spoiled by friends and family. I’m so excited to tell you about these gifts (FULL DISCLAIMER to all gift givers: I LOVED everything I got, so please don’t worry. I just wanted to highlight some of the wellness related goodies). Okay now that we have that all sorted out, here are 5 of my faves:

1)      Aroma Diffuser (Nebulizer): Releases a beautiful scent into your home based on what essential oil you use in it. I’m currently in peppermint mode. It’s also supposed to purify the air and help you breathe easier. I’ve never thought of owning one of these before but now that I do, I am obsessed.

2)      Cooking Class: Okay, so this cooking class is pizza themed and includes wine—so maybe not the healthiest nutritionally, but in terms of being in a social setting, interacting, cooking and taking a mental break from the day, this is something I’m super excited to partake in. The best part is that this is a bonding activity for my bestie and me :)

3)      Books: Books on books on books. Non-fiction or fiction—they all allow us to learn, escape and take care of our intellectual health. I’m so thankful several individuals picked books for me that they thought I would enjoy. So far, I love them.

4)      Anti-aging eye cream (a really good one): I have to get a little superficial and talk about the eye cream I got. To be honest, skin care has never been something I’ve given much attention to my entire life, but I’m learning quickly that you can’t get away with things in your 30’s like you did in your 20’s. Taking that extra bit of  ‘you’ time never hurts, and physical health (including skin care) is extremely important to our overall health—as are all the activities we do to help with mental, spiritual and emotional health.

5)      Adult Colouring Book: Whoa, hold up. Why has it taken so long for this trend to catch on? I used to love colouring as a kid. It was the most relaxing and Zen-like activity. In these adult tailored colouring books, different diagrams target different stress triggers—like disorganization, health, relationships or work. I honestly feel in a meditative state when colouring in these diagrams. Once again, I don’t know what took me so long to discover these but better late than never I suppose.

There you have it. Hopefully you’ll give one of these wellness activities a try as you continue on your journey into 2016. Wishing everyone a very happy and healthy year ahead. Happy New Year!
